AliasVault 0.28.0 Released

I'm happy to share that AliasVault 0.28.0 is now available. This release adds nested subfolders across all apps so you can organize credentials the way you want, introduces new comprehensive vault export formats for easy manual backups, and ships several quality-of-life improvements.

Nested subfolders

You can now create nested subfolders in your vault everywhere AliasVault runs. That gives you more flexibility when structuring logins, notes, and identities, and keeps large vaults easier to navigate.

Password importers have been updated so imports respect nested folder layouts when you bring data in from other managers.

Full vault export and import (.avex / .avux)

The web app adds new export formats that contain all data from your vault: credentials, passkeys, attachments, favicons, and related data.

• .avex (AliasVault Encrypted eXport): an encrypted export you can store safely or move between machines.
• .avux (AliasVault Unencrypted eXport): an unencrypted option when you explicitly need a readable backup.

This makes it easy to create and keep manual encrypted backups,

Browser extension 2FA copy to clipboard

After an autofill event, the extension can now copy the 2FA TOTP code to the clipboard automatically, so you can paste it straight into a confirmation field. 2FA field detection has also been improved, including better TOTP code detection on more sites.

Other improvements and fixes

• Password strength indicator on registration and password change in web app.
• Load more for emails in the mobile app and browser extension.
• Local password unlock is now rate-limited.
