Native iOS App and UX Upgrades

AliasVault 0.17.0 is here — and it's a big one. With the launch of our native iOS app, AliasVault expands into the Apple ecosystem with secure biometric protection and seamless autofill integration. This release also brings major usability enhancements across the board, from browser extensions to web UI, and introduces a new open-source license model.

📱 Native iOS App Launched

AliasVault now has an official native app for iPhone, available on the iOS App Store. Built from the ground up for iOS, the app:

  • Enables native autofill for websites and apps
  • Locks and unlocks using Face ID or Touch ID
  • Works seamlessly with both cloud-hosted and self-hosted environments

🧩 Browser Extension Improvements

We've added several quality-of-life features to improve your browsing experience:

  • New toggles to disable the context menu or hide the autofill popup on specific websites
  • Keyboard shortcut support to trigger autofill (currently best in Chrome)
  • Improved autofill reliability across a wider range of websites

🌐 UX Consistency Across Platforms

To ensure a unified experience whether you're on desktop, web, or mobile, we’ve refined how credentials are displayed to ensure alignment across all platforms.

⚖️ License Change to AGPLv3

AliasVault is now licensed under the AGPLv3, replacing the previous MIT license. This change:

  • Ensures AliasVault remains free and open
  • Protects against unlicensed commercial redistribution
  • Does not affect self-hosters or individual users
